The department provides opportunities for students of differing abilities and levels to advance successfully in critical thinking, reading, writing, and researching skills through a curriculum that incorporates the study of grammar, composition, and rhetoric. Students read, analyze, and respond to fiction & non-fiction, multicultural, classical, modern, and young adult literature. Courses within the department continually evolve to address student needs. Honors classes proceed at an accelerated pace and require extended outside preparation.
