As a college preparatory high school, Donovan Catholic is committed to equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and mindset they need to succeed in college and beyond. Our curriculum challenges students to think critically, communicate effectively, and engage meaningfully with the world around them, all within a faith-based learning environment.

We offer a variety of academic pathways designed to meet students where they are and help them grow into their full potential. From foundational college prep classes to rigorous honors and college-level coursework, every course is thoughtfully designed to support academic achievement, personal growth, and lifelong learning.

Our Academic Pathways Include:

  • College Preparatory (CP)
College Prep courses encourage students to develop core academic skills with consistent teacher support. Students who perform well in these courses may be recommended for the Honors pathway as they progress.
  • Honors
Honors courses are fast-paced and designed for students ready to take on greater academic challenges. With a focus on independent learning, analytical thinking, and deeper content exploration, these courses prepare students for advanced study. Strong performance may lead to enrollment in Advanced Placement (AP), college-level online courses, or dual-enrollment opportunities.

Student Placement and Course Selection
Student placement is based on a holistic review, including report cards, standardized test scores, recommendations, and the High School Placement Test. With guidance from teachers and administration, students are placed in pathways that align with their academic strengths and learning styles. Enrollment in courses beyond 9th grade requires departmental and/or prerequisite approval to ensure readiness and continued success.

We encourage all families to explore our Program of Studies, which offers a comprehensive overview of our course offerings, descriptions, and prerequisites. It’s a valuable tool for planning an academic journey that reflects your student’s interests, goals, and God-given potential.
