The International Baccalaureate Program (IB) is a rigorous and highly respected pre-university program. Donovan Catholic is now one of only 15 schools in New Jersey offering the Diploma Program. The IB aligns closely with the educational philosophy at Donovan Catholic, teaching students to become both self-motivated and life-long learners along with acquiring an international-mindedness to enhance their studies. TOK, EE and CAS (abbreviations you will learn about) open up diverse learning experiences for IB students.
Studies by the IB show IB diploma graduates “feel more prepared for college-level coursework and are better able to cope with demanding workloads and time-management challenges” than their peers.
Developing international mindedness builds empathic understanding and prepares students for civic engagement.
By learning to act as interpreters instead of consumers of culture, students think for themselves rather than accept the way information is presented to them.
